A fire is raging in a rural area of Perna Seca in São Bartolomeu de Messines, Silves this afternoon (August 8).
Around 223 firefighters are said to be fighting the flames, with the support of 50 vehicles and four helicopters, according to Faro’s CDOS rescue operations centre.
It started at around 3am.
A cloud of smoke can be seen from as far as Lagoa as can be seen in the picture taken from the Resident offices overlooking the EN125.
For now, the blaze is not threatening any houses.
