Fire in Pêra

A fire destroyed ​​two hectares of scrub land in Pêra on Tuesday, October 11.

Around 30 firefighters from Silves, Messines, Lagoa and Albufeira bombeiros, with the support of the civil protection helicopter, fought the flames which started at 4.40pm and were extinguished at about 6pm.  No injuries or property damage have been reported.

The National Authority for Civil Protection (ANPC) has registered 2,334 fires in the country since October 1. According to the ANPC, the unusually high temperatures experienced last week have increased the risk of fire.

Temperatures in the Algarve will remain on an average of 27 ºC until next Thursday, but will fall to 21ºC from October 21, according to the Meteorology Institute website.
