PJ police are investigating the causes of a fire that destroyed a restaurant near Albandeira beach in Lagoa last night (May 10).
The blaze started after 9pm at a time when the wooden beach restaurant ‘O Pirata’ was closed, Portimão port captain Ricardo Santos
Arrabaça told us.
No one is believed to have been inside.
The Resident was at the site this morning and saw that while the restaurant is still standing, almost everything inside it has been destroyed.
Firefighters were called at 9.25pm and battled flames until the fire was put out shortly after midnight.
The area was cordoned off by maritime police throughout the night while firefighters remained on site until 2am to ensure there was no chance of reignition.
The Resident has tried contacting the owners but our calls go straight to voicemail.
