Moving to Portugal Show and Seminars on 19th October to share latest details on financial and tax incentives
Portugal has long been winning the hearts and minds of those who head to the Iberian country for their holidays. Now, it’s winning awards as well, with a slew of wins at the 2023 World Travel Awards.
Portugal took the crown as Europe’s Leading Destination 2023, while its southernmost region, the Algarve, was voted Europe’s Leading Beach Destination.
Capital city Lisbon won both Europe’s Leading City Destination and Europe’s Leading Cruise Port, while Portugal’s second most populous city, Porto, took the win for Europe’s Leading City Break Destination. Portugal’s Madeira Islands were voted Europe’s Leading Island Destination 2023.
Many of those who spend time in Portugal want more than just a holiday. Figures from the Portuguese Immigration and Border Service (SEF) show that 12,718 residence permits related to investment activity and 20,424 residence permits for family members were issued between October 2012, when the country’s ‘golden visa’ scheme began, and September 2023.
