Finance minister shows sense of humour as he is squirted with green paint

Finance minister Fernando Medina showed a healthy sense of humour when he was splatted with green paint, squirted at him by a climate activist while he gave an open ‘lesson’ at Lisbon University today. He quipped “well at least I have one supporter for the increase in IUC (for pre-2007 cars)” as the young woman was manhandled out of the auditorium. Outside, more members of Greve Climática Estudantil squirted more paint over police agents called to restore order. The reason for this latest intervention, after weeks of similar ‘pranks’, was to insist on an end to fossil fuels, and switch to renewables by 2030.
