Quarteira GNR had to intervene when around 50 people who had been waiting for hours to be seen at the Finanças office in Quarteira on July 6 became agitated by the situation.
Only two members of the Finanças staff were available to serve the dozens of people, who became frustrated and verbally abusive.
One of the people waiting told Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã: “This service is operating with less than half of the staff who normally work in the office. Citizens cannot be expected to waste half a day here. This is an unacceptable situation.”
