FIMA hailed a success

More than 10,000 people watched shows from the Algarve International Festival of Music (FIMA) programme this year, 3,000 more than audience numbers recorded in 2008.

The 31st edition of the FIMA festival saw the opera performance of Aida proving particularly popular, with tickets from this show alone yielding almost 50,000 euros for organisers.

Artistic director of FIMA, Osvaldo Ferrira said: “We were glad to see such a positive reaction from the public to our events programme. Many of our shows sold out while the majority that didn´t were at 90 per cent occupancy.

The future of the event has been assured by ERTA president António Pina, who said: “The event has exceeded our expectations and it will be continuing in 2010.”
