A programme set up by the government to support cinema and audiovisual projects to mark the 50th anniversary of the 25 April Revolution opens today with an allocation of €790,000, revealed the entity created to oversee the celebrations. The programme, dubbed ‘Cinema for Democracy’ – regulations and conditions for access of which can be found on the official website of the Cinema and Audiovisual Institute (ICA) – was included in PS Socialists’ State Budget for 2023 and is the result of a partnership with the Mission Structure for the Commemorations of the 50th Anniversary of the Revolution of 25 April 1974, a State entity set up specifically to mark this half century of anniversary of Portuguese democracy.
