500 hundred cinemas across the country are participating in the Festa do Cinema on May 14, 15, 16 and 17.
The Algarcine (Portimão and Lagos), Cineplace (CC Continente in Portimão and Algarve Shopping in Guia), and NOS Cinemas (Fórum Algarve, Mar Shopping and Tavira Plaza) are some of the approximately 500 theatres across the country to host the Festa do Cinema on May 14, 15, 16 and 17.
During the four-day festival, ticket prices for 2D films will be reduced to €3.50 for 45 films, ranging from animation and comedy to terror and romcoms.
Contrary to the last edition, the promotion does not include VIP seats or sessions in 3D, IMAX, 4DX or ScreenX.
This initiative, which started in 2015, is back to support one of the sectors most affected in recent years and bring the population back to the big screen.
This year’s edition features films such as The Whale, which earned Brendan Fraser the Oscar for Best Actor, Mal Viver by the Portuguese João Canijo, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which premiered at the beginning of May, andEverything Everywhere All at Once, which won seven Oscars including Best Film.
The last edition of the Festa do Cinema, which took place in November 2022, attracted 134,000 spectators to cinemas nationwide, said the organisation, highlighting the “positive balance” of the initiative that made a comeback after two years of the pandemic.
