Fill a shoebox to help a child

People in the Algarve will again be participating in the Shoe Box Campaign to send gifts to children living in Eastern Europe, Africa, Central Asia and other deprived countries, who would not normally receive Christmas presents.

Last year, 1,320 boxes were sent from the Algarve to join 1.2 million other boxes from the UK, full of small gifts to children living under the constant threat of war, in orphanages, living on the streets, without food and clean water and who are abandoned.

Boxes need to be collected before October 31 and the Bombeiros Voluntários in Albufeira, Lagoa, Portimão and Lagos are happy to receive the boxes at their reception desks which will then be collected by a campaign  representative.

Cristal Pools have kindly given the use of a warehouse to store the boxes before they will be transported to England by Algarve Removals.

Leaflets about the campaign are available from Shoe World shops and there will also be leaflets at the International Christian Fellowship stand at the BLiP exhibition.

Due to the custom regulations in some of the receiving countries, there are some gifts that may not be included in your box, so it is important to visit the website www.smaritans-purse.org.uk for more information about this, before filling the boxes.
