Police are searching for the culprits of a tyre slashing spree which caused damage to around 50 cars in Faro in the early hours of last Friday (January 24).
Among the vehicles targeted were five Polícia Judiciária police cars, three council cars and three vehicles belonging to municipal company Fagar.
Correio da Manhã tabloid reports that the tyre slashing spree started at around 5am with the vandals targeting 50 vehicles in the areas of Vila Adentro and near the São Francisco square in downtown Faro, as well as on Rua Dr. Cândido Guerreiro near the Tridente building.
According to SIC television, residents in the area “heard noises” around the time that the tyre slashing spree is believed to have taken place, but most vehicle owners only realised what had happened in the morning.
PJ police are investigating and hope to identify the culprits by examining CCTV surveillance footage from the Vila Adentro area.
