Fewer road deaths

Eight people have died on the Algarve’s roads since the beginning of 2012, three fewer than in the same period last year.

The figures, announced by the National Road Safety Institute (ANSR), refer to the period between January 1 and March 7.

However, 32 serious injury cases from road accidents were registered, 11 more than last year.

In the March 8 2011-March 7 2012 period, 42 road deaths were recorded, while in the previous year period, there had been 58 fatalities.

The same number of serious injury cases (183) was registered in both year periods.
