Few reward good attendance

A survey by Jornal de Negócios revealed that only 15% of companies questioned would reward employees for good attendance by giving them 25 days holiday, as per the previous legislation.

However, the majority of companies reduced the number of holiday days by three, according to a new law implemented by the government this year.

Out of the 26 companies contacted by the newspaper, “only four (Renault, PSA, Microsoft and Lidl) decided to maintain the 25-day holiday entitlement”.

Companies such as EDP, Galp, PT, Sonae and Jerónimo Martins have adhered to the government measure.
