A human fetus was discovered late on Friday afternoon during a routine check of sewer pipe filters at the Atalaia pumping station in Faro run by Águas do Algarve.
According to reports, the water company immediately alerted the authorities so that the fetus could be removed and taken to Faro Hospital’s office of legal medicine.
Local website Postal explains that an inquiry will follow to try and investigate the “origin of the fetus”.
