Over 4,170 kilos of seafood were served
Over 8,000 people travelled to Vila do Bispo for the town’s famous Festival do Perceve, which is all about tasting the “gastronomic delights” of the municipality, especially its ‘perceves’ (goose barnacles).
The event took place between September 1 and 3 and has been hailed a success: around 4,170 kilos of seafood were consumed, including around 1,200 kilos of perceves.
Visitors also had the opportunity to try other local delicacies such as mussels, cuttlefish, razor clams, octopus, fried moray eel, and ‘xerém’ (corn porridge).
There was also live music as well as stalls selling a wide range of handicraft, sweets, cakes, liqueurs and much more.
The festival, which is organised by Vila do Bispo Council in partnership with the Association of Mariscadores (Shellfish Gatherers) of Vila do Bispo and Costa Vicentina, aims to “invigorate the local community, attract tourists, and boost the local economy through one of the region’s most cherished culinary assets.”
