Felicity Ace sinks after dismal days in which entire cargo of luxury cars was lost

Felicity Ace – the cargo ship that caught fire off the Azores mid-February – has finally sunk, just short of the Portuguese ‘economic and exclusive zone’. The smouldering ship was in the process of being towed into port when it “lost stability” and sank. Sailing under a Panamanian flag, the 200-metre ship had been en-route for Rhode Island, in the United States, with four thousand luxury cars (including Porsches, Bentleys and Lambourghinis) when the fire brought its 17-year history as a vehicle carrier to a dramatic end, and sent a €400 million cargo to the most dismal of ends.
