Feira da Serra attracts 40,000 to São Brás de Alportel
A record of over 40,000 people attended this year’s edition of Feira da Serra, a major summer event which took place in São Brás de Alportel between July 27 and 30.
The previous record attendance had been set the year before, when 38,600 visitors had been registered at the event.
Dedicated to promoting the “essence of the Algarve”, Feira da Serra featured around 300 exhibitors, 18 themed areas, six restaurants, three ‘tascas’ (taverns), several food stalls and over 60 hours of live entertainment.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Secretary of State of Local Councils, Carlos Miguel, who praised the event’s impact.
“The local council must be praised, because investing in this fair means investing in the local economy, investing in local products and the development of that economy,” he said.
São Brás Mayor, Vítor Guerreiro highlighted how the event is a “good example of territorial cohesion” as it helps promote “the side of the Algarve which is more hidden, as well as its potential and wealth.”
“It is an event with a heart and a soul, because it is carried out with love and passion,” Guerreiro added.
