FC Copenhagen participated in the 2014 Atlantic Cup in the Algarve between February 4 and 13. During the tournament, the team stayed and trained at the Amendoeira Golf Resort near the town of Silves.
FC Copenhagan plays in the Danish Superliga and is one of the most successful teams in the country with 10 championship titles to their name. This was the first time they had participated in the Atlantic Cup.
The Atlantic Cup, which is always held in the Algarve, is now in its fourth year and is starting to gain a reputation as a valuable pre-season winter tournament. In addition to FC Copenhagen, the tournament line-up included FC Slovan Liberec from the Czech Republic, Breidablik UBK from Iceland and FC Spartak Moscow from Russia.
Amendoeira Golf Resort has hosted a number of training camps for sports teams, including with Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool FC, Kabuscorp SC, NEC Nijmegen and Aston Villa FC.
