Fathers are at last legally entitled to attend C-section births of their children in Portuguese state hospitals. The news came on Tuesday, in a notice posted in government newspaper Diário da República. Mothers will have to “express their preferences” naming partners or significant others in advance, but barring serious health issues, state hospital births have suddenly become a great deal more accessible.
