Father killed, teenage son injured in Loulé bike crash

A 44-year-old man was killed and his teenage son injured in an accident involving a motorbike and a rubbish truck in Ameixial, Loulé.

The accident happened just before 5pm on Sunday afternoon at kilometre 690 of the EN2 road when the man and his son were returning on a motorbike from a biker’s rally in Ameixial.

Reports CNN Portugal, the man was attempting an overtaking manoeuvre when the bike collided with the rubbish truck.

The father died at the scene, while his son was taken by helicopter to Faro Hospital with light injuries.

The road was closed to traffic for five hours. GNR are investigating the accident.
