Sunday’s stormy weather saw a father and son seriously injured when a bolt of lightning split the tree under which both were sheltering during the Caramulo Motorfestival. The father, 41, is described today as “fighting for his life” in Viseu hospital, the seven-year-old son is believed to be ‘out of danger’ in Coimbra Hospital where he is nonetheless being treated for ‘serious burns’. The boy’s mother witnessed the horror, but escaped injury as she had sheltered in the family car, writes Correio da Manhã.
