Last year was a hard one for Lagoa’s hallmark event FATACIL. After a couple of years of decreasing popularity, it was announced last winter that a financial audit was needed to investigate €700,000-worth of liabilities that had surfaced.
Organisers pulled together and vowed to keep going, and so far, so good.
The president of organising company Fatasul has this week announced that ticket sales increased 50% compared to 2013, with a total number of visitors this summer near the 150,000 mark.
According to Luís Encarnação, there were even days where visitor numbers reached the heights of the glory days back in 2004.
He added that the “exponential increase” of the number of visitors is one of FATACIL’s “strongest arguments” to attract more exhibitors and sponsors for 2015 – some of which have already begun contacting the fair’s organisers.
Encarnação also revealed that a more complete review of this year’s fair will soon be ready, along with details of new ideas planned for next year.
