If you ever needed an excuse to go out and snap up a bargain piece of clothing then the Pica-Pica Boutique at Vale de Lousas retail park has come up with the perfect reason by holding a silent auction that not only allows bidders to get more for their money but will also benefit a local cancer charity.
On March 4 and 5, the boutique will be holding a silent auction with all profits raised being donated to the Casa Flor das Dunas appeal, a fundraising appeal which is looking for €1 million to be able to construct a hostel in Faro for cancer patients receiving treatment at the hospital to be able to stay between treatments.
Pica-Pica Boutique owner Paul Felix told the Algarve Resident: “It was hard to pick just one charity to benefit from the silent auction, however, I think most people have been touched by cancer in their life so it seemed fitting to support the Algarve Oncology Association (AOA).”
Potential bidders are invited to come to the shop over the weekend of March 4 and 5 to try on items and then make a bid. All items will have a reserve price which must be met but bidders can choose any amount over this.
Winners of the auction will be notified on March 9 and then be able to pick up their lots.
“We really want this to be an event that women can come to and enjoy themselves with a glass of wine and hopefully some entertainment. This will be a chance for shoppers to bid on some fantastic items for a fraction of their normal price with all profits going to the AOA,” said Paul Felix.
He added: “Why not come along with some girlfriends, have a drink and enjoy a fun, light and sociable event for a good cause?”
