The Bela Romão Croquet Club in Moncarapacho is hosting Jouk Harris’ Eastern Algarve Fashion Show on April 27, from 12pm. Well-known throughout the Algarve for her clothes, this is the second time Jouk will be presenting her fashion show at the club. As part of the event, models from Portugal, the UK, France, Sweden, Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany will be catwalking three models each, and professional photographer Tony Woods and his protégé Luís Carmo will be there to capture the excitement.
The show is being held in aid of a cause dear to the heart of the owners of Bela Romão: animal shelter ADOPO.
The event will include live music from midday, with the fashion show taking place at 1pm and lunch being served an hour later. Chef Sarah Byrne will be providing a bubbly welcome cocktail on arrival. Her lunch menu will consist of homemade Moroccan spiced Azhtar flatbreads with rosemary, feta and fire-roasted sweet red peppers; followed by either Marrakesh chicken tagine with preserved lemon on a summer vegetable couscous pilaf, topped with honey macerated apricots, stem ginger and cinnamon, parsley walnut gremolata or truffled tarte aux herbes on a bed of baby salad watercress greens with zesty lime vinaigrette. On the dessert front, the chef will be serving a butter crusted frangipani tart with homemade salted caramel ice cream, 80% cacao nibs and brandy-macerated summer berries.
As well as enjoying the lovely setting of the Croquet Club, guests may also purchase from a selection of items for sale inside the clubhouse, such as framed photographs, books, jewellery and cards, amongst others.
During the afternoon there will be a raffle with prizes: Jane Gibbin offers a €50 voucher for shop Casa das Portas in Tavira; a basic will for husband and wife (valued at €250) by Lita Gale Solicitors; a back massage by Tavira-based masseuse Katerina Chrenscova; two tickets for the upcoming concert by the Lacerda String Quartet (Algarve History Association) and, finally, the Bela Romão Croquet Club will offer four individual/dual social memberships at the club.
