Faro council will be providing free medicine to around 250 people this year as part of the Abem programme, which helps people with financial constraints purchase their medication.
The programme supported 100 people last year and Faro Mayor Rogério Bacalhau is encouraging locals with “little means and in need of medication to come talk to us”.
Albufeira, Loulé, Silves, Aljezur and Salir are other towns also providing support via the Abem programme.
