Faro roadworks await green light

A €481,000 project, dubbed “essential” by Faro council, for roadworks to the town’s main entrance is waiting for approval by the Court of Auditors.

The works, in the hands of Sociedade Cordivias – Engenharia Lda, are scheduled to take place on Avenida Dr. Gordinho Moreira between the junction leading to Montenegro and the BP petrol station near the Forum Algarve shopping centre.
They should last four months – but they only begin after the official ‘green light’.

“This is an essential project to improve traffic and pedestrian circulation and improve security at the entrance of the town,” the council explained in a statement.

The works will focus on turning the avenue into more of an “urban road” – making it safer for drivers and pedestrians – with improvements also planned to the drainage system for areas affected by heavy rains.
