Macário Correia, President of both Faro Câmara and the Algarve Câmaras Association (AMAL), is hoping for a “year of change” in 2013.
“We must struggle and fight with hope and determination,” he said.
He outlined the specific tasks that need to be accomplished to brighten the Algarve’s future, namely the improvement of the EN125 road, the completion of works at Faro Airport, the satisfactory conclusion of European funding for the Algarve, the fight against unemployment, the re-forestation of the areas destroyed in the summer fires and more protection in social services for public employees.
Also referringto the tornado in Lagoa and Silves, he added: “Now is the time to look forward and recuperate.”
