Faro hosts vegan meet-up

Faro’s musicians association (ARCM) is hosting a vegan meet-up on Tuesday, November 1 (a national holiday) featuring concerts, workshops, lectures and a fair with a selection of vegetarian and vegan products.

The event was organised by a group of vegans who want to celebrate a “movement that encourages respect for animals, humans and the environment”.

Several lectures will be held, providing tips on how to start a vegan diet and the benefits of doing so.

Singers, bands and DJs will also perform while several documentaries will be screened throughout the day.

There will also be a yoga class to start off the event.

The meet-up is open to vegans as well as other people who would like to learn more about the lifestyle and diet.

It will take place between 11am and midnight at the ARCM headquarters in Faro.

Admission is free.

In simple terms, veganism is a way of living that tries to “exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose”, according to vegansociety.com

There are many variations, but most vegan diets do not include any animal foods or any other products of animal origin, such as meat, dairy, eggs and honey. Vegans also oppose products like leather or anything that is tested on animals.
