Faro will be celebrating the arrival of 2020 with a New Year’s Party at the town’s riverside square near Jardim Manuel Bívar featuring a musical fireworks display and live musical performances.
Festivities begin at 11pm with a performance by Melomeno Rítmica, a pop rock band founded in Faro in the mid-1990s which enjoyed quite a bit success until their breakup in 2005.
They are now returning for a comeback concert which promises to take people back in time with all of their biggest hits which “were passed on from generation to generation” among the Algarvians, “especially those in Faro”.
There will be a break in their performance for the fireworks’ display when the clock strikes midnight, with the band expected to continue playing until around 12.30am when the Algarvian DJ duo Bubba Brothers will take the stage.
Their project started out as “just a bit of fun among friends”, but it quickly gained a life of its own, earning Eliseu Correia and Justino Santos a spot on the stage of many popular festivals around the country.
This time, they will keep revellers dancing into the night in the Algarvian capital.
