Faro Airport to be linked to Southampton and Helsinki
Two new direct routes linking Faro Airport to Southampton in the UK and Helsinki in Finland were announced on Tuesday (November 7).
The new air link to Southampton will be operated by easyJet and will launch on June 6, 2024, with flights taking place once a week on Thursdays “throughout the peak summer season.” Flights can already be booked, with prices starting at £47.99 (€55.13).
“We’re delighted to be launching twelve new routes and package holidays from eight of our airports across the UK to a fantastic range of leisure destinations, offering even more choice and connectivity to our customers all across the UK, whether they’re planning a holiday to Spain’s sunny coast or Tunisia’s beach town Enfidha as well as even more connections from the UK to beach favourites Malta, Faro and Cyprus,” said Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK Country Manager.
On the same day also came the announcement of a new air link between Faro and Helsinki, operated by Finnair and starting in October 2024. There will be two weekly flights although the days of the flights have not yet been announced.
Last month, the President of the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) stressed the importance of establishing direct air links to new markets for the Algarve in an exclusive interview with the Resident.
“It’s clearly one of our priorities. There is a strong focus on promoting our air routes from Faro,” said André Gomes.
