Faro cinema reopens today under new management

As the Resident reported last week, Faro’s only cinemas have reopened today (July 31) at Forum Algarve under the management of Portuguese communications giant NOS.
Only five theatres are working so far, but the cinema is already screening films, with five to choose from (Hercules, Step Up 5, Sex Tape, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Planes 2: Fire and Rescue) during its first opening week (July 31 to August 6).
Tickets cost €6.70 for 2D films (€3.35 for NOS card-holders) and €8.20 for 3D films (€4.85 for NOS card-holders), while schedules can be found online at http://cinemas.not.pt
NOS has also confirmed that it will be carrying out improvement work to the cinema’s nine theatres in September. The work may see the cinema close “but for no longer than two days”, a source from NOS told the Resident.
