Faro Tennis Centre’s senior men’s team were crowned Portuguese first division champions in Carcavelos, thereby achieving the highest possible honour in the national game.
Another Faro success story on the international circuit, Rui Machado, is currently on holiday in China before continuing to Australia for the qualifying rounds to the sport’s first Grand Slam event of the coming year where Carlos Moya will also make his comeback from injury.
No doubt Machado will also return for next May’s Estoril Open for which current Masters title holder Nikolay Davydenko is the latest ‘big name’ to confirm his participation alongside Roger Federer and James Blake.
