Farense victory over Sporting ‘B’

After losing their opening three League Cup games, the Faro side recorded an impressive 1-0 victory over Sporting ‘B’ thanks to a 24th minute goal from Fabio Gomes. Márcio Madeira almost doubled the lead when his shot cannoned off the crossbar shortly after the break. Tobias Figueiredo nearly snatched an equaliser for Sporting in the 89th minute when his header was pushed onto the bar by keeper Ricardo. Scottish youngster Ryan Gauld was on the bench for Sporting but was not used.
