SC Farense, relegated from the Segunda Liga at the end of last season, have started life in non-league football in a positive vein. They currently top Series H of the Portugal Prio Championship after a narrow 1-0 victory over Louletano at the Estádio de São Luís, Faro.
Cassio and Neca squandered good chances for the home side against a well-marshalled Louletano defence. Even so, the visitors had the better of the play until the hour-mark when Peter Vittori was sent-off. Farense then took control with Jorge Ribeiro slotting home the all-important goal.
