SC Farense returned to winning ways with 1-0 win over a young Benfica ‘B’ team that included exciting Brazilian prospect Victor Andrade who has made three appearances for The Eagles first team this season.
It was a 19th minute goal from central defender Ubay Luzardo that settled the issue. Farense must be eternally grateful to their goalkeeper São Bento (pictured). Eight minutes after the break, it looked certain that Benfica would draw level but Bento made two fine saves and then Saeed cleared off the line from João Teixeira.
The visitors, coached by former Portuguese international Hélder Cristóvão, continued to press but failed to find the back of the net. Farense move into mid table on 17 points.
