Farense took another stride towards bringing Primeira Liga football back to the Algarve capital with a single goal victory at home to Chaves.
This was their sixth straight win and leaves them five points clear of second place CD Nacional (Madeira) at the top of the Segunda Liga. Two missed penalties in the 26th and 87th minutes – both taken by Fabrício – would have given Farense a clearer victory that their display warranted, but Irobiso’s strike six minutes from time unlocked the Chaves’ defence and was enough to secure all three points.
On Saturday, Farense travel to Madeira for the ‘top-of-the-table’ clash with Nacional.
