SC Braga ‘B’, known as Os Arsenalistas after adopting the Arsenal kit many years ago, started in determined fashion with Crespo, Dennison and João Magno all going close in the opening 20 minutes.
Farense then hit back and could have taken the lead through Alvarinho, but Braga keeper Tiago Pereira made a stunning save to tip over the goal bound shot. Minutes later, Bruno Bernardo’s cross picked out Alvarinho, but his header rebounded from the bar and away to safety.
In the afternoon heat, the intensity of the game dropped, but Braga had further chances through Trincão (57’) and Eynel (62’) whilst at the other end Alvarinho went close.
In the final minutes, Braga substitute Villagrán smashed a free-kick against the Farense bar before Fabrício wasted a wonderful opportunity to steal all three points for the home side when one-on-one with Tiago Pereira.
The 0-0 draw saw Braga pick up their first point and Farense, although dropping two points, are in third place in the Segunda Liga before travelling to Leixões SC on Sunday.
