The new exhibition at the Museum in São Brás concentrates on expressions of light from dark, of colour from monotone.
It brings together work from several artists, including some specially commissioned to work to this theme.
There are ‘iconic’ paintings on wood by Kasia Wrona, misty visions of saints and angels, and quiet, reflective images from Jane Page, in which colour is laid over a monotone base.
These are balanced with the strong colours of fantasy paintings from Brigitte von Humboldt, the very playful images of Luís Athouguia and the swirling colours and figures of Nela Vicente.
The exhibition opens on December 8 at 6 pm and there is a whole evening’s entertainment with a performance of The Dream Dragon by the theatre group Aperitivo at 6.45pm and a classical music concert with Rebecca Hewes (cello) and Russell Hepplewhite (piano) at 8.30pm. Contact 966 329 073.
