ONE YEAR and one million euros later, the construction of Mira Sintra Park is now complete. The President of Sintra Câmara, Fernando Seara, officially opened the mega-park, amid celebrations that included music from the Banda Filarmónica de Mira Sintra, dozens of pigeons and a giant net of balloons being released into the sky. Inflatable bouncy castles were set up for the enjoyment of children. Two hectares of public land had been left in an abandoned state and it was decided to turn the space into a park and leisure area to be enjoyed by Mira Sintra residents. A project was created to renovate and re-qualify the existing space.
Now, there are activity and rest areas, a playground with swings and slides for children, a roller-skating rink, sports zones, an exercise circuit, a children’s water activity area, an open air theatre, benches, a café and public toilets.
