A WOMAN from Monchique, aged 23, thought to be mentally unbalanced, threatened to throw herself off Praia da Rocha cliffs at the weekend because she wanted to appear on television.
“It is my grandmother’s 85th birthday today, she lives alone and I want to appear on television as my present to her,” she reportedly said. The incident took place at the Três Castelos beauty spot, which is popular with tourists for its fantastic ocean views. Firefighters, who arrived promptly at the scene, managed to get her to step back from the cliff edge after much persuasion. The woman was transported to the Barlavento Hospital in Portimão.
