False euros seized

SEVERAL false 50 and 100 euro notes have been detected in Portimão. These notes have been appearing in Loulé, Vila Real de Santo António and Silves over the past few weeks, and are now being reported in Portimão. A police spokesperson revealed that six people have been arrested on suspicion of counterfeiting the 50 and 100 euros notes: one Eastern European man in Praia da Rocha, one Portuguese man and four German teenagers in Vila Real de Santo António. João Rosado from the Commercial Association Service of the Algarve (ACRAL) has pleaded for shop owners to be more cautious when accepting large denomination notes.
