Fall to Georgia

Despite losing their opening two EURO 2016 qualifiers, 7-0 to Poland and the Republic of Ireland, the smallest and newest member of UEFA was in confident mood for the visit of Georgia. The 3-0 defeat was a vast improvement on their previous performances and Liam Walker could so easily have scored Gibraltar’s first competitive goal ever when his superb strike from 20 metres was tipped around a post by Giorgi Loria. Germany, who were surprisingly held to a 1-1 draw by the Republic of Ireland, are Gibraltar’s next visitors to the Algarve Stadium on June 13 next year.
