FARO GNR seized thousands of counterfeit goods in a raid on Estoi market last Sunday.
A total of 95 officers inspected stalls and vehicles at the market held between noon and 6.30pm.
More than 7,000 counterfeit items were seized with a value of around 45,000 euros. Clothing, footwear, sunglasses, belts, handbags, wallets, CDs and DVDs were among the items confiscated. Unpaid taxes on goods led to further merchandise being seized from market traders.
In addition, two men found driving under the influence of alcohol were detained and a total of 21 people were charged with possession of counterfeit goods.
