Lovers of fado music will be treated to a spectacle of Fado Vadio on two evenings in Olhão. Fado Vadio is a distinct form of singing fado and is different from the professional fado found in Casas de Fado. In Fado Vadio, amateurs take turns to sing their emotions.
The 20th Fado Vadio Challenge is taking place at the Municipal Auditorium tonight (Friday) for the first qualifying round with winners announced on September 8. Performances start at 9.30pm on both evenings. Ten fado singers will be judged for their singing, creativity, presence on stage and interaction with the public. Tickets cost €5 per person.
