Sonae Sierra, international shopping centre specialists, have invested €3.5 million in renovation works at Continente Portimão shopping centre by the V6 Avenue to Praia da Rocha.
The new look centre, which receives around seven million visitors each year and is celebrating its 22nd anniversary, includes 59 stores over a 13,500sqm area, with a store occupancy rate of 98%.
Redevelopment of Continente Portimão focused on modernising the general aspect of the shopping centre as well as creating a new food court area, which is now more inviting with an upgraded design.
The architectural concept of the project followed a nautical theme which is evident throughout the centre.
With the renovation, the centre attracted new stores such as Trucco (women’s fashion), Casa do EME and Imagine Jewellers, and service providers such as sewing company Express and beauty salon Elegance.
In the food court, which seats 250 people, new additions are Yogurtlândia and sushi restaurant Happy Family.
A feature that continues to attract many visitors to Continente Portimão is its six screen cinema with a 840 seat capacity. Access to the cinema area has also been improved with escalators from the food court.
