Just as Público newspaper predicted not long ago, closing arguments in the long-running corruption case known as Face Oculta have seen a lawyer for two of the defendants calling for the whole case to be dropped. Thus far in the labyrinthine process that has seen “500 witnesses, thousands of papers and 170 court sessions” as well as endless high-profile names embroiled in the intrigue, 34 people and two businesses stand in the dock. Prosecutor Marques Vidal maintains he wants to see all of them condemned.
