Late-night passengers collecting their luggage from a carousel at Lisbon airport got an eye-full recently when the overhead television monitor broadcast a soft-porn film. Far from being “outraged”, the few flyers who noticed the images thought they were hilarious and, after filming them and laughing “welcome to Lisbon!”, posted them on Youtube. The incident was picked up by the UK’s Daily Mirror, which described passengers as “horrified”.
In its customary style, the Mirror overplayed the incident, which as an airport source explained resulted in no complaints.
The porn film was being broadcast at 3am, thus no children or otherwise impressionable people appear to have been affected and, as the source told the Mirror, “the situation was corrected promptly”.
The airport’s sets had been programmed to a “general channel”, said the source, that had clearly decided it was time to spice up its offer of entertainment to insomniacs.
“We will ensure that these situations are not repeated,” the source affirmed.
