I read your article with great interest (article by Roger Eastoe entitled ‘EU treatment of non-resident UK homeowners in Portugal’ in the March 11 edition). I too would like to see a reciprocal agreement on length of stay.
We unfortunately started our house search just before the pandemic hit, which resulted in us being locked down and unable to continue searching.
We now find ourselves hesitant to continue as the 90-day limit will hardly be long enough for us.
We have thought of long-term rental whilst we are searching, which would still see us contributing to the Portuguese economy, but see little point when we can only stay for such a limited time.
I do hope that this situation will be looked at in the near future as I’m sure we are not alone in our concerns.
