Experts and politicians meet in Lisbon to discuss evolution of pandemic in Portugal

Today will be one of ‘many statements’ regarding the evolution of the pandemic in Portugal as epidemiologists and other experts are meeting with politicians to discuss how the process of deconfinement is going. For now, all indicators are ‘positive’ – particularly when it comes to the level of lethality in the most vulnerable (over -80s ) age group. But the downside is that there has been an increase in variants, particularly the British variant, which is responsible for 73.3% of infections in Lisbon, 60%-65% of infections in the north and centre, roughly 30% in the Alentejo and 70% in the Algarve.
