Faro shopping centre Forum Algarve has plans to open 56 additional stores by spring 2014.
Benno Van Veggel, director of Dutch company Multi Development, in charge of the project, told news agency Lusa that the plans will increase the current 119 shops, covering 40,000sqm, to 175 shops in 55,000sqm. Work is set to cost €53 million and will begin in the second half of this year.
When plans are completed it is hoped that the improved shopping centre will attract nine million visitors annually.
However, approval from the Câmara is still needed.
